Upper Town is an area which has a distinct character and from the lower town area provides a picturesque view. This area is a maze of streets and steps, many of which lead up the natural slopes of the Rock. The process of renovation is starting and this will just add to the natural charm and attract new investors. Within the area of the Upper Town is the Cable Car, which offers stunning views as well as the opportunity to relax at the top and enjoy a drink and light snack at the Top of the Rock Cafe or purchase a souvenir whilst enjoying the scenery. The Alameda ‘Gibraltar Botanic Gardens’. A location that offers not only a truly beautiful setting but also a level of tranquillity unique to this area of Gibraltar. These gardens frequently host weddings and provide a backdrop unrivalled on the Rock. Within these gardens lies a large selection of nature including, trees, flowers, butterfly feeding stations and a wildlife area.. An ideal location for both adults and children of all ages, including a children’s play area that caters for most ages. Situated in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve are the ever popular Mediterranean Steps. This walk is approximately 1400m and is a suitable for all levels but the level is fairly difficult. Depending on your experience this walk can vary in time between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, providing a lovely few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the ever vibrant town.
